What you should know about MCC NEET PG Counseling?

The National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test Post Graduate, abbreviated as NEET PG, is India’s primary qualifying entrance and rank-determining exam. Every year, it is held by the National Board of Examinations, which is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It is the successor to the All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE).

Guidelines:

If a student chooses to pursue the following courses, he or she must take the examination for the same.

  1. Master of Surgery (MS)
  2. Doctor Of Medicine (MD)
  3. Diploma courses from any government or private college in India.

NEET PG is a computer-based examination, and the subjects tested follow the Graduate Medical Education Regulations syllabus. The exam lasts 210 minutes and was first administered in 2013. It is held once a year, and the student’s score is valid for one year after the results are published. To take the exam, you must have an MBBS degree as defined by the Indian Medical Council Act.

There are currently 114 medical colleges and institutes (both government and private) to which you can gain admission through the NEET-PG examination.

Criteria for Eligibility

Any student pursuing an academic career in India holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree (if the degree has not yet been awarded, a provisional pass certificate is required) according to the Indian Act of Medical Council can apply for the exam.

A valid Indian or State Medical Council-authorised MBBS registration certificate is also required. Only candidates who have completed a minimum of one year of internship are eligible to apply for the same Examination. For candidates who have not yet finished their training, proof of an upcoming internship program that is nearing completion will suffice.

If a candidate has a bachelor’s degree from a foreign medical college, he or she must take the Medical Council of India Screening Test / Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. Only after passing this exam will the student be eligible to take the Entrance Exam for the same.

There are two additional primary requirements for students who have graduated from Foreign Medical Colleges in order to apply for PG of NEET. To begin, the candidate must register with the Medical Council of India (Central or State) and complete a full year of internship.

Eligibility for NEET PG Counseling

MCC will establish a specific cut-off for the year. Candidates who achieve the qualifying cut-off marks set by them will be eligible to attend the NEET Counselling. Though the changes regarding cut-off on an annual basis, it remains close to 275-320 for general candidates and around 250-300 for reserved quota candidates.

Procedure for NEET PG Counseling

The entire counselling process takes place online. It goes through the following steps:

Registration for NEET

Candidates who wish to enrol for the NEET PG Counseling process must first register on the MCC’s official website and will be required to register using their official phone number/ office phone number and a valid email address.

Candidates will be given login credentials, which they must use later to complete the registration application form and upload all academic information. Candidates must pay a one-time counselling fee via Net banking after completing the registration application (online payment). The fee is usually divided into two parts: refundable and non-refundable.

The counselling fees for a candidate’s deemed universities are higher than the counselling fees for the AQI or Central Universities. More information is available on the website.

Selection Filling

Following registration, candidates must select their preferred colleges in order of preference. There will already be a list of colleges; you must choose which ones you want and arrange them in the order you prefer. After you’ve finished filling out the choices, save a copy of the list for future reference.

 Seat Allocation

Following that, the council will undergo the first round of seat allocation. If the candidate is offered a seat at their preferred institute, they may continue with the admission process; otherwise, the candidate may choose a free exit. Following that, MCI begins enrollment for the second round of counselling. In the second round of registration, candidates can create a new preference list in the same way they did in the first. The prior preference list will be considered void for candidates who chose a free exit after the first round.

Documents required for the process are the following:

  1. Admit Card
  2. Rank Card
  3. Marksheet Of Class X
  4. MBBS Degree Certificate
  5. MBBS Marksheet
  6. Certificate of EWS
  7. Caste certificate
  8. Registration Certificate issued by MCI/SMC
  9. Internship Completion Certificate
  10. Any disability certificate
  11. A valid photo id proof like a Voter id card/ pan card/ Aadhar card/ Passport/ Driving License

Process of Document Verification

If the candidate chooses admission, he or she must be available at the respective institute on a specific day for document verification, as announced by the MCI. The personnel of the assigned institutes will verify the documents on this day. Candidates must bring the original documents and self-attested photocopies of the required documents.

Seat Allocation Results

Typically, the total number of available seats is divided in half. This division applies to MD, MS, and Diploma programs. One-half of the seats are reserved for Central Government institutes (with a 50% quota on a pan-India basis), while the other half is reserved for state medical council institutes. A centralized counselling process, similar to the NEET UG exam, ensures seat allocation. The merit list is compiled using Score. Reservations are available for the SC, ST, OBC, PWD, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS). There are no reservations in Armed Forces Medical Service Institutions.
