Eligibility Criteria for Medical courses in Uttar Pradesh

Mentioned below are the eligibility criteria for MBBS in UP and MD/MS in Uttar Pradesh. All the candidates are required to qualify the following educational requirement to get eligible for medical courses in this state.

For MBBS

  1. All candidates who seek admission in Uttar Pradesh MBBS and BDS admission must have passed class 12 exams with Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English as their core subjects with a minimum aggregate of 50% . 
  2. Physically challenged candidates who belong to the general category should have secured an aggregate of at least 45% in the above mentioned subjects. 
  3. Reserved categories such as SC, OBC, and ST should have secured a minimum aggregate of 40% in the same.
  4. Candidates who hold the domicile of Uttar Pradesh are eligible to take admission as per the 85% state quota seats. 
  5. For all those students who  want to avail the above reservation on the basis of     their domicile should fulfill any one of the following criteria to be considered as the domicile holders of UP state.
    • Candidates are eligible if their father is a resident of Uttar Pradesh and they are natives of the state.
    • Candidates qualify if their parent(s) have lived in Uttar Pradesh for three or more years.
    • Candidates are eligible if their parent(s) are employed by the Government of India.
    • Candidates residing abroad qualify if their direct ancestors/forefathers were residents of Uttar Pradesh.
    • Candidates who have passed both class 10 and 12 from Uttar Pradesh are eligible without needing to show residency proof.
    • Candidates who have passed either class 10 or 12 from Uttar Pradesh must either provide proof of their parent(s) being residents of Uttar Pradesh or meet one of the first four criteria.
  6. All Indian passport holders and OCI candidates are eligible to apply for the Uttar Pradesh MBBS and BDS admissions
  7. All candidates between the age of 17 to 25 years can apply for Uttar Pradesh MBBS and BDS admissions 2024. 
  8. Candidates with reservation will be offered a relaxation of 5 years in the required age criteria.

For M.D/MS

  • Candidates must have a valid MBBS degree or be in the final year of their MBBS from an NMC recognized medical university/college to be eligible for NEET-PG.
  • General category candidates need a minimum of 55% marks in MBBS, while SC/ST and OBC category candidates require at least 45% marks.
  • A one-year internship, completed on or before 31st May of the academic year, is mandatory for all candidates.
  • Candidates with an MBBS degree from abroad must clear the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE).
  • A permanent or provisional MBBS registration certificate issued by the NMC or State Medical Council is required for all candidates.

How to Register for Uttar Pradesh NEET UG Counseling 2024

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the website https://upneet.gov.in.
  • Use your NEET-UG roll number and email ID (used in AI-NEET-UG registration) for registration.

  • Make an online payment of Rs. 3,000/- using Netbanking/ Credit/ Debit Card.
