HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE NEET PG?

NEET-PG is a qualifying and ranking examination held by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for aspirants wishing to pursue postgraduate Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and diploma courses in India’s government and private medical colleges. It is a computer-based examination consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions that candidates must answer in two hours and thirty minutes. According to the marking scheme, the candidate receives four points for each correct answer, and one point is deducted for each incorrect answer.

Given the examination’s difficulty and competitiveness, now is the ideal time for all candidates to begin their preparation.

  1. Regular study: All aspirants must ensure that they can devote at least six to eight hours of their day to their studies. They must divide their daily preparation into four one-and-a-half to two-hour study sessions. This will help to reduce the extra burden while also ensuring that the candidates’ attention span is not compromised. Taking regular breaks between sessions allows aspirants to relax and prepare more effectively.

  1. Focus on key topics: Aspirants should concentrate on topics such as Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Preventive and Social Medicine, Pathology, Pharma, and Microbiology during their preparations because these subjects account for approximately 70 to 75% of the questions in the examination.

  1. Strategic Revision: Aspirants should devote at least one to two hours per day to revising key topics and weak areas to strengthen their concepts. To improve preparation efficiency, aspirants should use a single source of revision for each subject to add all important pointers and notes. Online platforms can assist aspirants in clarifying concepts and providing a brief and concise explanation of the same.

  1. Practise papers and mock tests: Because NEET PG is one of the most competitive exams, aspirants frequently experience anxiety and tenseness as the exam approaches. To help alleviate this anxiety, candidates must complete multiple practice tests and answer approximately 100 MCQs per day.

They must also concentrate on answering question papers from previous editions of the exam. This will allow them to gain a better understanding of the pattern and topics that will be covered in the exam, allowing them to feel more confident about their preparation.

  1. Prioritized Self-Care: Throughout their preparation, all aspirants must prioritize self-care. It is critical to stay healthy to effectively prepare for the exam. Aspirants should not jeopardize their mental or physical health. Exam-related discussions, for example, must take place in groups of no more than three to five people. Late-night studies frequently disrupt aspirants’ sleep schedules and should thus be avoided. Prioritizing self-care boosts motivation and confidence, making it an essential component of any aspirant’s preparation strategy.
