As per the results of NEET-UG 2024 SC Hearing today, the Supreme Court has finally declared that there will be no re-test for the NEET UG 2024 exam. Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud acknowledged that there were systemic deficiencies in the conduct of the exam that had been noticed but ruled out the possibility of a re-examination.
Jists of NEET-UG 2024 SC Hearing
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) during the NEET-UG SC Hearing confirmed before the Supreme Court that a paper leak in the NEET-UG exam had occurred at the Hazaribagh center. A CBI officer stated that some gadgets used by the involved gang were burned, while others were recovered recently and are now under investigation.
On Tuesday, the CJI mentioned receiving a report from IIT Delhi, led by director Prof. Banerjee, which concluded that option 4 is the correct answer for a disputed question. The Court in the NEET-UG 2024 SC Hearing has accepted the IIT Delhi report, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) is instructed to re-tally the NEET UG results based on this correction.
In another development, a plea from Madhya Pradesh requested an exemption from the re-test, if ordered, for tribal and rural students. Senior advocate Hooda, representing the petitioners, argued that the paper leak’s dissemination through WhatsApp made it unlikely that the breach was confined to Patna alone. He suggested that solvers were brought from Rajasthan and the leak’s spread via WhatsApp indicates a wider impact. Hooda further contended in the NEET-UG 2024 SC Hearing that if a re-test is not considered, at least the qualified candidates, approximately 13 lakh students, should retake the exam.
The bench of the NEET-UG 2024 SC Hearing, consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra, is currently hearing nearly 40 pleas related to alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2024.
Background and Impact

Students and educational bodies await further instructions from the NTA regarding the recalculated results. The Supreme Court’s directives aim to balance the interests of fairness and practicality, given the vast number of candidates involved.
